Student Support System

Jill Gaughan – Intervention Coordinator

Jill earned dual degrees in Elementary and Special Education and a Master’s in Reading Education and received intensive training in the Orton-Gillingham approach becoming a Master Teacher Trainer and a Certified-Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist (C-SLDS). Throughout her career, Jill supported neurodivergent students in both public and private school settings, focusing on their individual strengths and learning needs. Her roles have included Dyslexia Practitioner at The Children’s Dyslexia Centers of Cincinnati, Reading Specialist, Intervention Specialist, and Intervention Coordinator, supporting the design and implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). She has served on the board of the Ohio Valley Branch of the International Dyslexia Association and continue to advocate for children with dyslexia as well as other language-based learning needs. In 2013, she began a deeper study of English orthography through Real Spelling and continue learning from exceptional mentors such as Dr. Peter Bowers, Rebecca Loveless, Fiona Hamilton, Bradley Johnson, Dr. Jennifer Petrich, as well as many more.

Emelin de la Garza Iga  – Montessori Support Specialist

Emelin is from Monterrey, Mexico. She moved to Cincinnati in 2017 to learn English and decided to continue her path in Cincinnati since then. She completed her bachelors in Montessori Education and her Masters in Special Education, both at Xavier University. She loves teaching, sports, music, religion, cultures, and languages.

Anne Marie Bauer – Intervention Assistant

Anne Marie has been a special education teacher, lead teacher, trainer, and mom. She has been a professor at UC for over 30 years in the educational department. She has spent the last six years volunteering in a Montessori 3-6 classroom and fell in love with Montessori!  She is excited to work with the children at GSCM as an Intervention specialist with a Montessori heart.

Rebecca Kemer – Speech/Language Pathologist

Rebecca has been a speech-language pathologist for 17 years. She spent the first half of her career working at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and the past 6 years working part time for Cincinnati Public Schools. Her passion is working with children from toddler through middle school. She loves working with the students at GSCM and seeing the growth and progress they make as they grow and learn. She lives in Madeira with her husband and 4 children. She is so thankful for the flexibility to work part time so that she can soak up every moment of motherhood to her 4 amazing children. She enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and going on outdoor adventures with her family.

Mary Bock – Orton Gillingham Specialist

Mary Bock is a certified Intervention Specialist as well as an Orton Gillingham trained reading specialist.  She and her husband, Craig, have two children, Lucy and Henry. They have two dogs, a flock of chickens, and a continuously expanding garden that keep them busy. In their free time, they enjoy hiking, going to Reds games, visiting the Zoo, and enjoying our beautiful city.

Beth Stewart – Title 1 Math/Reading Tutor

Shelaina Cain – School Psychologist

Shelaina has worked with Cincinnati Public Schools for the past 18 years, and has spent the last 13 of those working in Catholic Schools. Her role at GSCM is to assist with the intervention and problem solving process for those students struggling academically, as a member of the school intervention team. She also completes special education evaluations, when the school team determines they are necessary, or when a student already identified to receive special education services is due for their tri-annual reevaluation review.
